Let others act for us

I am thinking a lot about teamwork these days. And the truth is that the majority of subjects / topics are too complex for each of us to have a full understanding of.

If we are not a plumber but need a plumbing service in our house, we typically ask a plumber.

So, in the work context we should also be ready and willing to turn over the most difficult decisions outside of our domains to others, those who are trusted experts in their domain.

Once we have their views and opinions, sure, we can make the final decision if we want. But we shouldn’t be making the initial judgement if we are not experts.

It’s funny how we are often so insecure to ask for help at work, and try to do it all. That leads to sub-optimal outcomes for sure.
