It’s true that a floating piano top in the ocean is great when your boat has capsized and you’re about to drown. You can grab onto it and survive for a while longer.

However it’s also true that it’s not the optimal solution. A better solution would be a life boat or even a life jacket to help you swim.

But, we take what we can in times of crisis. And that’s why when I think about remote work and the COVID pandemic it’s true that technology helped us continue working. Zoom helped us stay connected. BUT, it doesn’t mean that it was the best or most optimal design.

We have the chance to re-design work. Let’s learn, not copy.
