I’m thinking a lot about the 4 day working week at the moment.
How can you make it work. How can you encourage people to come to the office and collaborate.
We know that when you condense work and try to focus relentlessly on efficiency you can lose those water cooler moments and employees are quick to drop the informal discussion parts of their jobs.
So, you could consider serving a gourmet hot breakfast 08:00-09:00 to get people together into the office on time. And then hold a standup for 15 minutes at 09:00 with the CEO and someone on their team.
After this, ensure 15 minutes before any other meeting. So employees stand and around and chat a little more.
It’s a balancing act, but deliberate effort to create team bonds helps.
