Do you know your people as individuals?

The true mark of a great leader is knowing your people, as individuals. Really, knowing them in depth.

Are they going through something? What are their motivations? What does the company mean to them?

When you know this, you will be able to tailor solutions and things directly to them. You may not get it on the money each time, but the effort will be appreciated.
