The Joy of Constraints

When you are cooking, and the recipe calls for an ultra-expensive ingredient that you can only buy in a 1kg bag, yet you only need 5 grams for the recipe, what do you do? Do you spend the money knowing that you are going to waste nearly the whole bag of product, or do you search for a more fitting solution: experimenting and trying a substitute ingredient instead?
